On March 21, the South Loup Bobcats traveled to Loup City to compete in the first outdoor track meet of the year. Per usual, the track meet weather would not match up with the forecast, leaving the participants to deal with a cold brisk wind for the remainder of the day.

Their final season record of 16-6 might be a bit deceiving. You see, the South Loup Bobcats had a fantastic season on the basketball court; and their losses? Well, most of those came at the hands of teams who went on to the state championships.

On Tuesday, Feb. 27, the South Loup Bobcats hosted the Plainview Pirates in the district finals.

AINSWORTH – It would be hard to find a sports fan in Nebraska who hasn’t heard of Carter Nelson. Ainsworth kid.

South Loup began their sub-district basketball tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 20, with their first-round game against the Sandhills-Valley Mavericks in Ansley. The Bobcats have played the Mavericks twice this year already, looking to repeat the two victories with another.

It was a big weekend for the South Loup wrestling team, as they qualified four athletes for the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships in Omaha. The quest for a medal for the foursome began on Thursday morning, Feb. 15.

The South Loup Lady Bobcat season came to an end on Tuesday, Feb. 13, as they fell to Ravenna 57-45 in sub-district play at Ord. On Friday, Feb. 16, the South Loup Bobcats traveled to Sumner to take on the SEM Mustangs in the last regular season game of the year. The two rivals have good seasons of their own, and both are conference runners- up in their respective conferences.
