The South Loup Bobcat cross country teams traveled to Cozad on Saturday for their second high school meet of the season and had two placers, despite not having a full girls team this week. The junior high team had one placer.
The high school boys placed 9th as a team, and junior Logan Recoy placed 4th individually with a time of 18:14.2. The boys running this week were Recoy, Josiah Coleman, Caleb McFate, and Eli Rogers.
The high school girls only had two runners this week, but sophomore Ivy Tullis placed 9th with a time of 22:45.
The Lady Bobcats (2-1) treated fans to a show Tuesday in their home opener triangular at Arnold with an easy win 2-0 over Mullen and an exciting victory over rivals Anselmo-Merna 2-0.
“Tuesday was a great night for the team as a whole,” said head coach Desiree Guthrie. “Everyone got a chance to see the floor and get some great touches on the ball.”
It was all South Loup the first set against Mullen with a final score of 25-7. The Lady Bobcats ran away with the lead early in the set with a 15-4 lead over the Broncos.
Fans young and old turned out in full force Friday evening, Sept. 2, to watch the South Loup football team earn their first win in Arnold since 2019 - and they thrilled fans with a high-energy victory over Maywood/Hayes Center, with a final score of 64-8.
This week the offense stayed grounded with 450 rushing yards and 53 passing yards in 48 plays. Three Bobcat players rushed for more than 100 yards: Trey Connell with 197; A.J. Starr with 109; and Conner Paulsen with 106. Connell had all 53 passing yards.
