It was the softer side of the Lady Bobcats (20-7) that came out last Tuesday during the final regular season game against Ainsworth. Fans that were used to the fast and hard hits at the net, and the tough blocking they’ve seen all season, were met with a more gentle field from the bobcats, as they defeated Ainsworth 3 to 1.

The first set looked bleak, the Bobcats lost 14-25, but thanks to quick adjustments, and more precise ball placement techniques, the Lady Bobcats found their footing and figured out how to defeat the C1 Bulldogs.

Throughout the season, the Bobcats counted on aggressive blocking, rocket- launched kills, and rapid-fire defense to beat their other opponents. But Ainsworth plays a different kind of game, with more tips, softer passes, more accurate ball placement, longer volleys, and less opportunities to block at the net.

By the second set, the Bobcats had a strategy developed to take down the Bulldogs, 25-20 and hold them 25-18 and 25-18 in the next two sets.

Leading in kills was Taylor Ross with 13, followed by Charli Vickers with10. Abby Stallbaumer, who is the leading blocker in all of Nebraska C2 volleyball, had 12 kills, followed by Ross with 10. Bryn Schwarz had an impressive 46 digs, and Talli Martin had 34 serve receives. Ava Pandorf had 130 assists, the second highest per game this season.

The Lady Bobcats traveled to Southwest High School in Bartley on Monday for the opening night of the C2-11 subdistricts. They played Southwest, but the scores were not available at press time.
