The South Loup boys put together two contrasting performances this week — one a commanding win over Ansley-Litchfield and the other a hard-fought loss on the road against Arcadia/Loup City. On Tuesday, Jan.
It was a challenging week of road contests for the Lady Bobcats this week, and the team showed some grit and fire despite two tough losses — a 46-31 defeat to Arcadia/Loup City and an overtime heartbreaker to Ansley-Litchfield, 43-42.
The Bobcat wrestlers didn’t have far to go as they sparred in their lone tournament last week. All seven athletes competed in their own South Loup Invite on Friday, Jan. 23 and ended the day with a pair of medals for their efforts.
The South Loup Youth Wrestling Club hosted the South Loup Youth Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 24 at Callaway Public School, welcoming 178 wrestlers from surrounding communities. The tournament featured both boys and girls from PreK through 8th grade, showcasing the growing strength and inclusiveness of youth wrestling in the area.
The South Loup Bobcats put together an impressive weekend stretch, earning back-to-back wins over the Maxwell Wildcats and Brady Eagles. Led by senior standouts Crew Witthuhn, Dylan Pandorf, and Conner Paulsen, the Bobcats showed strong balance on both ends of the floor to climb to .500 on the season.
The South Loup Lady Bobcats endured a challenging two-game weekend stretch, falling to Maxwell and Brady on Friday, Jan. 16 and Saturday, Jan. 17, respectively. Despite showing determination and flashes of improvement on the boards, the Bobcats couldn’t overcome cold shooting in either matchup.
On back-to-back meets last week, the Bobcats created some magic on the mats, bringing home a handful of top four medals. Their campaign started at the Sumner-Eddyville- Miller Mustang Invite on Jan.
The South Loup Bobcats faced a challenging week, dropping three non-conference games to Hershey, Sandhills/Thedford, and Bertrand. Despite the losses, the team saw standout performances from senior leaders and flashes of offensive efficiency.
