The South Loup Lady Bobcats continued to battle through a challenging season with a pair of losses over the weekend, falling 68–29 to Mullen on Thursday, Feb. 5, and 46–18 to Southern Valley on Friday, Feb. 6. The setbacks dropped South Loup to 0–16 on the year, but the young squad continues to show growth in effort and competitiveness despite a tough schedule.

Against Mullen, the Lady Bobcats struggled to slow down the Broncos’ offensive balance. Mullen jumped to a 15–6 lead after one quarter and extended it to 37–11 by halftime behind hot shooting from junior Riley Hegland, who finished with 24 points on 7-of-12 from the field. Senior Hayley Donohoe added 15 points and 9 rebounds, and sophomore Brynne McCully contributed 9 points and 10 boards. South Loup put together its best offensive stretch in the third quarter, scoring 10 points.

Kamryn Kramer led the effort on the Bobcat side, putting up a total of 10 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the field. Gracie Brennan pitched in 7, going 3-for-3 from inside and 1-for-2 on the line.

On Friday night in Oxford, South Loup faced another difficult test against Southern Valley. The host Eagles built an early 15–5 advantage and held the Lady Bobcats to single-digit scoring in each quarter en route to a 46–18 victory. Southern Valley controlled the pace and rebounding margin, while South Loup struggled to find consistency on offense. The Bobcats finished the game with 6 points in the final period and came home with a disappointing loss in the face of a good effort.

Addi Stump and Erin Fitzgerald topped the shooting for the night with 4 points each. Tyra Brestel pitched in 3, while Brennan and Kramer landed a bucket apiece. Emma Stallbaumer picked up 1 on the line to round out the Bobcat’s performance.

Despite the winless record, South Loup’s young roster continues to gain valuable experience against quality opponents, setting the foundation for stronger finishes as the season nears its close.

The Lady Bobcats challenged the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes on Tuesday, Feb. 3, with results not available by press time. On Friday, Feb. 13, South Loup will host the Hi-Line Bulls in their final regular season game, with action set to get underway at 4 p.m.
