Lady Bobcats Look To Senior Core For Successful Season

This is Bryon Hanson’s second and final year at the helm of the South Loup girls basketball team, as he will be leaving the Callaway school district at the end of the school year. He is assisted by Andy Schwarz. Hanson’s inaugural year as head coach was a rather impressive one, going 15-7 on the season, undefeated in conference play, and winning the MNAC conference tournament.

Bobcats Wrestlers Set Lofty Goals For Successful Season

Last year’s South Loup wrestling team was a very young one, and Head Coach Todd Phelps said he is looking for improvement on the mat this year that comes with experience. Phelps is in his fifth year as head coach after assisting for a year, and is joined by second-year assistant coach Gavin Robertson.

Bobcats Split Games In Opening Week of Season

On Friday, Dec. 1, the South Loup Bobcats made the trip to Sargent to play the Twin Loup Wolves. This would be the Bobcat's first game of a very promising-looking season. With a veteran team, the Bobcats had high hopes for this game and the rest of the season.

Young Volleyball Team Concludes Their 2023 Season

The South Loup 5th and 6th grade girls volleyball teams met for practice once a week in September and October. In October they played games in the Cozad league. 'We want to thank the Callaway Booster Club and Arnold Booster Club for sponsoring our teams. Their support of youth sports is amazing. Every girl on the team wants to say THANK YOU!' said Coach Michelle Preston.

Year End Stats Demonstrate Bobcat Teamwork For Success

The Bobcats capped off a tremendous football season with only one loss, to the eventual state champion Sandhills/Thedford Knights. Even though they narrowly missed making the trip to Lincoln for the finals, the Bobcats finished the season ranked #2 in D2 and #3 statewide by MaxPreps.

Bobcats’ Season Is One To Be Proud Of

Though the Bobcats football team did not play in Lincoln this week as they had hoped for all season, the team most certainly had a year to be very proud of. Their tough matchup with Sandhills-Thedford was the culmination of a season full of many highs.

Heartbreaking Loss Ends Bobcats Championship Hopes

On Friday, Nov. 10, the South Loup Bobcats traveled to Dunning to play in a heavily attended semifinal playoff game against the Sandhills-Thedford Knights. It was an epic rematch from the regular season game that ended in a 14-point victory for the Bobcats.
