Lady Bobcats Get Much Needed Win on Home Court
The Lady Bobcats suffered their second loss in a week, when they were on the road to meet the Anselmo-Merna Lady Coyotes on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
Despite the loss, South Loup still got an impressive performance from Bryn Schwarz, who scored 23 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Josie Reiff, who scored 6 points.
The Lady Bobcats have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. They looked forward to the support of their home crowd as they hosted Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] on Friday, Feb. 9.
Hi-Line was coming into the match with five straight defeats on the road, meaning South Loup had to defend against a squad hungry for a win. They were able to accomplish that and enjoyed a cozy 47-28 victory over the Lady Bulls.
It was another big night for Schwarz, who almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 steals. Aubrie Birkel was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and 9 rebounds.
South Loup's win bumped their record up to 6-12.
They began postseason play on Tuesday, when they traveled to Ord to take on Ravenna. No results of that game were available at press time.
