Four Bobcats Punch Their Ticket To State Tournament in Omaha
It was a successful day for the Bobcat wrestling team on Saturday, Feb.
10, as they qualified four wrestlers for the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships in Omaha which begin today (Feb.
15).
Josiah Coleman picked up the gold medal and district championship at 106 pounds to punch his ticket to Omaha. His road to the gold went as follows: Champ. Round 1 Coleman won by fall over Noah Hiatt (South Loup) (Fall 1:42) Quarterfinal - Coleman won by fall over Weston Putnam (Elm Creek) (Fall 1:38) Semifinal - Coleman won by fall over Prestyn Roan (Riverside) (Fall 0:49) 1st Place Match - Coleman won by fall over Trayton Stewart (Centennial) (Fall 3:28) Dawson Mason earned the silver medal and a trip to the state tournament at 132 pounds. Round 1 - Mason won by fall over Talon Hemmingsen (Palmer) (Fall 0:57) Quarterfinal - Mason won by decision over Caleb Vinson (Osmond) (Dec 5-0) Semifinal - Mason won by fall over Connor Rempe (Sandy Creek) (Fall 4:55) 1st Place Match - Jaxon Smith (Elm Creek) won by fall over Mason (Fall 0:50) CJ Quandt also finished the day with the silver medal and a trip to the state championships at 144 pounds.
