On Thursday, Jan. 9, the South Loup Bobcat boys had a fast-paced game against the Sandhills-Thedford Knights. The game started strong with the Bobcats scoring 15 points in the first quarter. This included a 3-point play where senior AJ Starr saved the ball from going out of bounds to pass it into Crew Witthuhn who went up for 2 and drew a foul, earning him another point.
The Bobcats came off of back-to-back wins to finish out their week in front of the home crowd at Callaway on Saturday, Jan. 11, as they hosted the Bertrand Vikings. South Loup came out strong, seeming to have picked up where they left off in their previous two games. However, the Vikings made it clear they were not going down without a fight.
South Loup was one of 28 wrestling teams to compete in the Garden County Wrestling Invite on Saturday, Jan. 11, in Oshkosh. The Bobcats finished in 8th place in the team standings, with Gordon-Rushville claiming the team title.
South Loup has gone 9-1 against Brady recently and the Bobcats looked to pad the win column further on Friday, Dec. 27. The two teams rounded out the year against one another at the holiday tournament in Maxwell, where the Bobcats were once again victorious.

The South Loup boys’ wrestling team competed in a dual tournament at Burwell on Friday, Dec. 20. The Bobcats faced off on the mat against S-E-M, Ravenna, Southern Valley, Hi-Line, Centura, and Sandhills-Thedford. Results of each of those duals for the South Loup wrestlers are as follows.
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better. That's what South Loup did as they secured a close 66-62 W over the Medicine Valley Raiders on Friday, Dec. 20. Winning may never get old, but the Bobcats are sure getting used to it with their third in a row.
