Troopers Arrest 65 Impaired Drivers

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed from the road 65 impaired drivers during the holiday season. During the final two weeks of 2023, troopers participated in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

Senior Center Hosts Celebration

The Seven Valleys Senior Center in Callaway hosted a celebratory event on Wednesday, Jan. 3, in recognition of a Community Challenge Grant the center received from AARP. The grant provided the Senior Center with a computer, projector, and internet for one year!

School Board Elects 2024 Officers

The Callaway Board of Education conducted a special meeting Monday evening, prior to the regular meeting of the board in the school library. The special meeting was for the purpose of reviewing candidates for the superintendent position being vacated by Bryon Hanson at the end of the 2023-24 school year. No action was taken during the special meeting.

As we ring in a new year, we at the Leader wanted to take a moment to remind you of some of the stories that made our headlines in 2023. The Callaway Chamber of Commerce works diligently to make the Old Fashioned Christmas Around Town an extra special event, and this year was no exception. Activities for Christmas Around Town, which was held on Wednesday evening, Dec. 6, were spread throughout various locations in the community.
