Old Folks Ain't All The Same

Body
When I was in my twenties, getting close to thirty, I thought you were over the hill at age forty; but now that I’m fifty, pushing on to sixty, I’ve seen seventy-year-olds who are pretty frisky. I’ve seen them in the marathon with fast-moving feet, and yet - I’ve seen others barely making it across the street.

Remembering ‘A Date That Will Live in Infamy’

Body
December 7, 1941, is a “date that will live in infamy” as stated by President Theodore Roosevelt in his famous speech after the events of the Pearl Harbor bombing. That event led to the United States' involvement in World War II. President Roosevelt’s speech was a call to arms and a declaration of war against this act of aggression by a foreign nation. He never wanted us to forget what happened. President Roosevelt concluded his speech by saying “With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounded determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph – so help us God.”

Superintendent Search Involves Public Input

Body
The search is underway for a new superintendent for Callaway Public Schools, and the Board of Education is striving to make sure everyone has an opportunity to make their voice heard in the process. The board hired the Nebraska Association of School Boards to facilitate the search and on Nov. 28 a representative of NASB visited Callaway to host a series of meetings. Throughout the day and evening school staff and administration, and district patrons and staff, were invited to offer their input regarding the district, community, and superintendent position. A public meeting was held on Tuesday evening, Nov. 28, led by Shari Becker of NASB, with about a dozen community members in attendance. There were six questions that Becker sought input from the audience: What are the strengths and accomplishments of the school district?

Only Women Can Truly Relate

Body
Only women will truly relate to the following, but it’s a hoot for all. My mother was a fanatic about public toilets – as a little girl she’d bring me in the stall and teach me how to lay strips of toilet paper to cover the seat.
