Did you know that there are lizards that don’t have legs? Yep, there are, and there is one species, known as the western slender glass lizard, here in Nebraska. Worldwide there are over 200 different kinds of legless lizards. You might ask, how do you tell a legless lizard from a snake? They are both long and relatively thin, obviously neither has legs, but lizards, ones with legs as well as those without them, have eyelids.

The Callaway Legion Consignment Sale will be held March 20, due to the bad weather last weekend. The Legion Auxiliary members will serve yum-yums, pie, and coffee at the Legion Hall during the event.
Members of the first-grade class were treated to a story by The Cat in the Hat, aka Levi Witthuhn, during the Reading Across America Day celebration in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

Minutes of Legion Auxiliary March Meeting

The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. at the Callaway Legion Hall on March 9, 2026. Those of us that could meet, got together at 5:30 to take on the task of judging our Legion Auxiliary scholarship applications. We had several applications, all were very deserving of winning this honor.

New Curriculum and Next Year’s Calendar Approved

Some people may not be aware of the planning and behind-the-scenes work that goes into selecting the curriculum used in the classrooms of public schools. At Callaway Public School, a committee is in place that reviews materials and makes recommendations as curriculum updates become necessary.
