Callaway placed second with 97 points and Ansley finished first, scoring 122 and ½ at the Callaway Girls’ Track Invitational hosted Friday, April 18. Four new records sparked the wintery- spring day Friday, marked in the discus, 80-yard hurdles, 880 relay, and the mile.

American Legion Auxiliary Announces Girls State Selections

Aubrie Birkel, daughter of Heath and Amy Birkel, and Neltje Reiff, daughter of Mike and Erin Reiff, have been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State representing the Callaway American Legion Auxiliary. Both girls are juniors at Callaway High School.

Callaway Welcomes New Provider

Callaway District Hospital and Medical Clinics have been serving the Seven Valleys area since 1952, though it has not always operated under that name. There were also two years, between 1972 and 1974, when the community did not have a medical facility until Dr.
Bethany Collins is the newest medical provider to join the team at Callaway District Hospital and Medical Clinics. She and her fiance, Andrew Rheiner, relocated to Callaway in February when she started her new job. She is now seeing patients full time at the clinic and says she is loving it! 50 YEARS AGO: The new Junior-Senior High School at Callaway was dedicated Sunday afternoon, April 13. The senior band, under the direction of Frank Swathel, played the “Star Spangled Banner” and Father James Janovec gave the invocation to begin the program.

FCCLA Chapter Qualifies Four Teams For Nationals

The Callaway FCCLA team hit the ground running as they headed to Lincoln for the State convention and competition on April 6-8. Their first stop was the Cheesecake Factory where they reportedly “ate a fantastic lunch and purchased some delicious cheesecake”.

Banner Year For CHS Speech Team

The Callaway speech team ended their tremendous season with a rare accomplishment for the school - a district runner-up team plaque, and an appearance at the state meet. On March 28, eight Callaway High School students were given an escort out of town on their way to Kearney to represent their school in the state competition.
