The American Legion Post 59 is pleased to announce that Caleb Furrow and Dylan Pandorf of Callaway will join nearly 340 other high school juniors from across Nebraska participating in the American Legion Cornhusker Boys' State Program, June 1 - 7, 2025, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln downtown campus.

Public Invited to Night of BBQ The public is invited to a BBQ competition hosted by the Sons of the American Legion Squad 59 on Saturday, May 3, at Henry’s Bar. The competition is limited to 10 teams, each consisting of two cookers.

CHS Quiz Bowl Headed to State

The Callaway High School quiz bowl team has had an outstanding season, and is now in the process of preparing for the state competition in Hastings on April 30. This year’s team consists of seniors Dawson Mason, Uotong Haidle, and Addison Bailey; and juniors, Neltje Reiff, Cheney Dishman, Dylan Pandorf, Caleb Furrow, and Nyachay Haidle.

ALCC Plans Sixth Compost Days

Adams Land & Cattle (ALCC) is excited to be sharing their nutrient-rich and organic compost with local gardeners during their sixth annual Adams Compost Days. Custer County residents are encouraged to bring buckets and stop at their loadout facility, just north of the South Lot entrance on Highway 21. They will be giving out compost on Saturday, May 3 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Sunday, May 4 from Noon to 3:00 pm, and Saturday, May 10 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
