20 YEARS AGO: It will cost owners of stray dogs and cats if the animals are impounded in Callaway. The Callaway Village Board voted to approve Ordinance 2005-6-1, providing for the impounding of stray animals and the associated fines at the June 7 meeting. Callaway has entered into an interlocal with North Platte for use of the animal shelter and facilities for abandoned dogs and cats from Callaway. Should an animal be impounded, the initial fee for the owner to retrieve the creature will be $130. An additional $10 is assessed per day up to five days. The ordinance went immediately into effect upon passage.
