Timothy Rosentrater of Callaway was sentenced in Custer County District court on Thursday, Sept. 18, after entering a plea of guilty in May to several charges of sexual assault that occurred over a period eclipsing more than 20 years.

The 97th Annual Custer County American Legion Convention was hosted by Merna Post 50 in the Community Center in Merna. The joint session was called to order by Custer County Commander Bill Schaad. Opening prayer was given by Chaplain Danny Schall.

The Callaway Good Life Center is a 35-bed nursing home facility that offers private and semi-private rooms. Qualified nursing care is provided to residents of the facility 24 hours a day, along with physical, occupational, and speech therapy all provided on-site.

Our office has received several inquiries regarding the proposed use of the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) in McCook as a detention facility in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, so I wanted to address some of those questions in this week's column.
