Mental health is vital at every stage of life, and we are dedicated to supporting older adults and their caregivers in our rural communities as they navigate mental health challenges.

Back in the summer of 2007, Custer County hosted the first Hero Flight in the state of Nebraska. Private donations funded the cost for 25 Custer County World War II veterans to fly to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorial erected in their honor.

Unit 59 Legion Auxiliary Minutes

The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly meeting started at 6:30 p.m. at the Callaway Legion Hall on May 12, 2025. Our president Jane Lashley called the meeting to order. Our Chaplin Joyce Brestel started the meeting with a prayer. We then followed our President with the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the Star Spangled Banner, and recited the Auxiliary Preamble.

CPS Chapter Closes For 15 Graduates

Fifteen Callaway High School seniors gathered in the school gym for the final time as classmates on Sunday, May 11, as the Class of 2025 closed the book on an important chapter of their lives. The phrase the class chose as their motto is, “How lucky are we?” With the class colors of navy and ivory, the seniors entered the gymnasium filled with family members and friends as Pomp and Circumstance echoed from the band.
It is tradition at Callaway Public Schools to celebrate the outgoing class and the incoming class during high school graduation and preschool graduation. Here the CHS Class of 2025 and Class of 2038 share a moment, and a photo. (Photo courtesy CPS)

Sentencing Set For July

Body
Timothy Rosentrater, age 63 of Callaway, pled guilty on Thursday, May 1, in Custer County District Court to several charges of sexual assault that occurred over a period eclipsing more than 20 years. In March of 2024, Rosentrater faced a single charge after being arrested the previous month when a woman accused him of assaulting her during a seizure episode.
