Miranda Tucker, daughter of Preston and Alicia Tucker, and Tiersa Johnson, daughter of Julie Johnson have been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Girls State. Both girls are juniors at Callaway High School.

On Sunday, March 22, the local Auxiliary Unit #59 hosted a Legion Birthday Party at the Callaway Legion Hall. The American Legion was founded after World War I, on March 15 1919, in Paris France.

Community Achievement Plan In January, the Planning and Evaluation Committee recommended no action on the approval of the Community Achievement Plan (CAP) for the Learning Communities of Douglas and Sarpy Counties.

The Custer County Foundation held its annual Scholarship Award Ceremony on Sunday, March 22, at the Ansley Public School in Ansley. Rilee Daffer, Executive Director of the Custer County Foundation, welcomed the estimated 350 people who attended.

Jeff Cole is entering his second season as head coach of the South Loup golf team. Prior to that, Cole was an assistant to Coach Jarod Rush for three seasons. Joining Coach Cole on the course again this year will be Assistant Coach Garrett Hrupek.

Brian Gardner, guidance counselor at Callaway High School, was announced as the Outstanding Young Educator during the Broken Bow Jaycees Awards Banquet. There were 105 persons in attendance with Monte Griffin as the guest speaker. A portable home breathing machine has been donated to the Callaway Hospital by the Parker Calvin family in memory of Stella Wilson. Also, a beautiful and much-needed coat rack was made and donated by Bill Street.
