This past week I was reminded once again just how fragile life is. On Saturday, June 13, my son-in-law was rushed to Kearney Regional Hospital, where it was quickly determined that he had sepsis. The medical team went right to work.

Cindy and I have cats. We have had cats since before we were married. I enjoyed the cats because, if for no other reason, I didn’t clean out the cat box. That was Cindy’s “job”. Then Cindy got pregnant.

Nebraska is running true to form. Last week we had a temperature of 100 degrees and clear skies and now this week we are experiencing 40 degree weather, cloudy skies and wind. Maybe in a few days we will have some rain, we hope!

The Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA) is celebrating the signing of LB 525, landmark legislation granting farmers ownership of their agricultural data. NeCGA played a significant role in advancing the bill during the 2026 Legislative session.

Callaway’s annual Pioneer Picnic is only eight days away, and those attending this year’s celebration are in for a special, fun-packed three days!

Over 150 4-H and FFA members gathered at the 13th annual Custer County Youth Animal Quality Assurance Training on Monday, June 1. The training was held by Adams Land & Cattle as well as the Nebraska Extension in Custer County.
