Everyone is invited to Callaway Lutheran Church’s annual Corn Boil on Sunday, July 26, at the Callaway Community Center. The Corn Boil will include sweet corn, sausage, potatoes, and ice cream. Doors open at 11 a.m. and serving will end at 2 p.m. or when the food is gone.

A community blood drive will be held on Wednesday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Three Callaway businesses will be hosting grand openings, and one a grand re-opening, July 22-24. The businesses include the Callaway Market, Right Drug Store, L&L Lumber Co., and Jerry’s Steakhouse.

Those who pursue rodeo life say “it gets in your blood”. Perhaps that has never been more true than in the case of Quinton Boeser. You see, Quinton’s parents - Roni and Chancey Boeser - met while both were competing in rodeo for Pratt Community College in Kansas.

Summer is flying by, and it can be so easy to become consumed by busy schedules, deadlines, and the constant responsibilities competing for our attention that we miss the opportunities to enjoy the “good life.”

It’s county fair time! While that may invoke different memories for each of us, the nostalgia of the fair is likely very similar. I was not a farm kid, nor was I ever involved in 4-H.

Long before Callaway was even an incorporated town, a young man from Denmark emigrated to the United States to begin a new life and eventually settled in the South Loup Valley. His name was Paul Seyerson.
