From Denmark to Nebraska

Body Long before Callaway was even an incorporated town, a young man from Denmark emigrated to the United States to begin a new life and eventually settled in the South Loup Valley. His name was Paul Seyerson.
Dave Chesley shared some of the tools used by his great-grandfather Paul Seyerson, who homesteaded north of Callaway in 1876. Dave and his wife Jo now reside on the original place and hosted a 150th anniversary celebration July 11-12. Guests were invited to take their best guess at what these tools were used for. BLAST FROM THE PAST

Body Larry Mowry led a discussion of the Callaway Community Improvement Program on the resolution passed by the Village Board setting forth a uniform way of numbering houses and businesses in Callaway. Sample addresses were worked out for structures on Kimball St. and Grand Ave.

HISTORY OF THE FAIR

Body The very first Custer County fairs were held in the town of Westerville. These early events showcased pioneer life, with highlights including oversized vegetables and local wildlife.
