The Callaway Volunteer Fire Department elected Larry Mowery, Larry Franssen and Robert Edgington to serve as officers for the Custer County Mutual Aid Control at their meeting on Monday, June 2. Mutual Aid is made up of representatives from all fire departments in Custer County. The group meets four times a year with a different fire department providing the officers for each year.
Love Signs of Norfolk installed Callaway's digital message sign in the mini park, concluding months of planning and fundraising led by the Callaway Bear Boosters.

Arnold residents will double-down their donations at the upcoming ‘Be A Game Changer’ fundraiser. This event is on June 22 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Arnold Community Center with the purpose of improving Arnold. The Arnold Community Foundation Fund has agreed to match all local donated funds dollar for dollar. Following a free will donation meal, teams can compete in three game changing events, including a combination of all three called a triathlon. There will be three rounds for each event and each event will last for 50 minutes.

Oconto Transforms Into BBQ Capital For a Day

It was 25 years ago that a Halloween night tornado ripped through Oconto, leveling a good share of the town including the fire hall. The next June a fundraiser BBQ was hosted by the Oconto fire department to raise money to rebuild. The event was a huge success, and 25 years later it still is.

Board Approves Lunch Prices, Discusses Unpaid Accounts

Reviewing and updating school policies is one of those parts of the school board’s job that is not glamorous, or sometimes even fun, but it is necessary. The policy committee of the Callaway Board of Education has devoted hours to that task, said Superintendent JD Furrow, and at the board’s June 9 meeting some of those were approved on second reading and others on first reading.

The Callaway Good Life Center Board invites everyone to a Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, June 28, from 7-10 a.m. at the Community Center. Pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit, coffee and juice will be served with proceeds going to the New Building Fund.
