Callaway residents will be given one more opportunity before the General Election to receive information and ask questions about the pool bond scheduled for vote on Nov. 8. A Community Pool Information Meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Callaway Community Center. Need clarification on how the pool bond will work? Want to know all the hooplah about the pool project straight from the source? All the information you want to know, and an opportunity to ask any and all the questions, will be provided at this meeting.

LB840 Fund Provides Loans for Local Businesses

The General Election is less than three weeks away, and one of the items to appear on the ballot for Callaway voters is something we have been talking about for the past few weeks. The LB840 plan and sales tax will appear as two separate items on the ballot, and the Economic Development committee reminds voters that you must mark the “For” box on both for the tax and utilization of the funds to continue as it has for the past eight years.

It froze hard last night – and I’m glad. I knew it was coming because for the last week I’ve been dealing with all kinds of creepy-crawlies trying to find a way into my house when I’d much prefer, they stay outside and die a seasonal death. The flock of cranes flying over Saturday afternoon only reinforced that winter is on its way and it’s as if all those creepy-crawlies heard their haunting sounds and doubled up on their home invasion efforts.

Ninth Annual Callaway Kids Fall Carnival

The ninth annual Callaway Fall Kids Carnival is scheduled this year for Saturday, Nov. 5 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Callaway Community Center. The Carnival will have games, activities, prizes and other surprises for children from preschool age to sixth grade. There will also be a Cake Walk and the American Legion Auxiliary will be providing free concessions.

Senior 4-Hers Encouraged to Apply for Scholarship

The Nebraska Association of Fair Managers will award two special scholarships. Martha and Don Romeo Scholarships worth $500 each will be awarded to one 4-H girl and one 4-H boy who are graduating seniors in the state of Nebraska and who plan to continue with post high school education.

Tryouts to be Held for new Club Volleyball Program

Maddie Squiers, graduate assistant for the UNK Volleyball team, is the director of a new club volleyball program in Central/Western Nebraska this year. Nebraska Pride Volleyball is a club that has merged with Nebraska Gold to create a successful and competitive club in this area of the state.
