The Callaway Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Trunk-or-Treat on main street on Monday, Oct. 31. Adults throughout the community - including staff at the school - got in the spirit by donning minion costumes at school, and to hand out candy to the kiddos downtown.

ELECTION 2022: School Board

Four candidates have thrown their hats in the ring to represent the public on the Callaway Board of Education for the next four years. The two incumbents - Liana Hrupek and TR Anderson - are being challenged by Vincent Guthrie and write-in candidate Kay Fahnholz.

ELLEN MORTENSEN We are now less than three weeks away from the General Election, and early voting has begun. In an effort to keep our readers informed, we will be presenting information on candidates and issues facing the voters of Dawson County on Nov.

Ninth Annual Kids Fall Carnival

The ninth annual Callaway Fall Kids Carnival is scheduled this year for Saturday, Nov. 5 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Callaway Community Center. The Carnival will have games, activities, prizes and other surprises for children from preschool age to sixth grade. There will also be a Cake Walk and the American Legion Auxiliary will be providing free concessions.

Don Your Costumes For Trunk-or-Treat

The Village of Callaway’s Trunk-or-Treat will be held along Main Street on Monday, Oct. 31, from 4 - 5 p.m. You are invited to bring the whole family for treats, costumes and spooky decorations. There will also be an award for the best decorated trunk. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be offered, as well.

Harvest Fire Danger High This Year

With average precipitation four to six inches below normal in Dawson County during 2022 and the region having received less than a half-inch of precipitation during October, the harvest fire danger is high.
With the dry conditions and a potential for fires so high this harvesting season, it is a good idea to have a fire extinguisher close by.

As of October 24, there are four males, one female, and no others in Custer County Jail. Winston Cha Chi – Booked September 20 for failure to appear.
