Callaway Fifth Graders Enter The Shark Tank

The fifth grade class at Callaway Public School has a dream. The kids want to take a trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha and spend the night in the aquarium sleeping with the sharks - literally. When they discovered that such a trip wasn’t in the school budget, the students took matters into their own hands. Again, literally.

The members of the Callaway American Legion Auxiliary believe it is important to not only honor fallen veterans on special days like Veterans Day and Memorial Day, but all throughout the year. Last year the ladies launched a program designed to recognize our veterans at this very special time of year as well.
Holiday Cooking Disasters Now Bring Smiles

Thanksgiving this year was a joy as we had a full house of guests. Both daughters and husbands were able to be there, along with the Number One Grandson. In addition, our son-in-law, Dan, was able to get leave from his month-long Army Reserve officer’s training, so his parents and paternal grandmother joined us from Loup City, along with Don’s sister, Lynn, and her husband, their daughter and her boyfriend.

CCF Awards Grant Check to Good Life Center

During the Callaway Community Foundation’s fall grant application process, a grant in the amount of $2,000 was awarded to the Callaway Good Life Center for landscaping around their building. The staff and administration of the Center have plans to spruce up the exterior around the facility, and plant some things that will require less maintenance and still provide beauty for their residents.
Summary of November Legion Auxiliary Meeting

On Nov. 21, 2022, Unit 59 of the Callaway Legion Auxiliary met at the American Legion Hall in Callaway. Deondra Lashley, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30. She led with the Pledge of Allegiance, we sang the Star Spangled Banner, recited our Auxiliary Preamble and our Chaplin, Joyce Brestel, read a prayer. We proceeded with the minutes of our last meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
