Bobcat Wrestlers See Light Week Due To Weather

Even though Mother Nature forced the cancellation of the South Loup Wrestling Invite last Friday, the Bobcat wrestlers still got some mat time at a duel with Overton last Tuesday. The Bobcats fell to a larger Eagles team 30-48, but still brought home more experience and a handful of individual wins.

If you haven’t seen the South Loup boys basketball team play yet this season, you are missing quite a show of athleticism, intensity, and incredible teamwork. The Bobcats are now 10-2 on the season, with their second loss coming this past Monday at the hands of the Class C Hershey Panthers.

Busy Week As Season Winds Down For Bobcats

It was another week filled with lots of mat time for the South Loup Bobcat wrestlers as they traveled to Sumner on Friday for the SEM Invite and up to Dunning on Saturday for the Knights Invite. As they head into the final four weeks of the season, the Bobcats are continuing to bring home medals and hone their skills as they prepare for district and state competition.

A powerful snowstorm forced a long break in the Bobcat boys basketball schedule, but they continued to easily defeat their opponents this week in play at home and added two more Ws to their record of 8-1.

Bobcats See Busy & Successful Week on Mats

Even with the snow causing a postponement of a meet, the Bobcat wrestlers had a full week on the mat with a triangular at Tryon on Thursday and the Amherst Invite on Saturday. The Bobcat grapplers won both rounds of action against Hyannis and Sandhills Valley on Thursday - by a score of 54-6 against Hyannis and 54-18 over Sandhills Valley.

The South Loup Cheerleaders have been working with their younger counterparts, the ‘Bobkittens’, learning some routines. The girls had an opportunity to showcase their new skills during halftime of the South Loup varsity boys basketball game last Friday night. Lady Bobcats Bring Home Tournament Trophy

The Lady Bobcats got a much-needed boost this past week, bringing home the championship trophy from the Gilson-Pierce Memorial Tournament in Maxwell. The Lady Bobcats are now 3-4 this season. This was the fourth consecutive year the Lady Bobcats have won the tournament.
