The Mid-Nebraska Athletic Conference (MNAC) has released its list of 2023 Conference All Academic Teams. The following Callaway students were selected for these conference honors.
It’s been a long, wet, and windy spring for the South Loup Bobcat track team, yet these talented thinclads continue to dominate the track and field. Last Tuesday, the teams traveled to Overton for the Eagles annual invitational meet.
The Bobcat golf team hit the links in Thedford last Thursday on a chilly day for some of the best golf they’ve played all season. Three of the five players set new season records for themselves - Joey Sallach improved his season best score by 4 points with 95 strokes; Harper Johnson shot 100, nearly 10 strokes above his season best; and Grant Hrupek cut 2 strokes off his previous season best with a total of 104.
We hear a lot of conversation these days about the importance of getting children from behind electronic devices and into the great outdoors for some exercise. One Callaway mom took that to heart and decided to do something about it - and her idea was wildly successful.
The South Loup track teams have had a very busy week, competing at the Hershey/St Pat’s Invite on Tuesday and the Burwell Invitational on Friday. Both days culminated in more successes for the teams and more hardware to showcase.
While the weather was just about the opposite of ideal for golf, the South Loup Bobcats made the best of it at the Hershey Panther Invite at Water’s Edge Golf Course in North Platte last Thursday. The varsity team finished in 9th place with 422 points, on the only 18-hole course the team will see prior to the district meet in May.
Despite the cold and windy weather, the South Loup Bobcats were fast and fierce at their home track meet in Arnold on Thursday. The boys team finished first out of 17 teams with 82 points - nearly 30 points ahead of the runner-up team.
The South Loup golf team held its home meet last week on a chilly and windy Thursday at the Arnold Golf Course. The Bobcats fielded two teams for the meet.
The Bobcat track teams both brought home runners- up honors at the Hi-Line track meet in Elwood on Thursday. This was a finals-only meet due to the forecasted weather rolling in. The Lady Bobcats scored 92 points to place second behind Elm Creek despite having three strong athletes absent. The boys were only four points behind Bertrand, to come in second with 87 points. The Bobcats were the top team in the combined team scores.
The South Loup Bobcat golf team kicked off the season last Thursday at the Augusta Winds Golf Course in Stapleton. Despite the Amherst varsity meet being canceled due to weather and a good chunk of the team absent for State FFA and a funeral, the Bobcats still fielded a team of four golfers for this varsity tournament.
