While Christmas is a time of joy, behind the sparkling lights and carols of peace on Earth, there are often people who are struggling. The stress and anxiety of the season can be a lot.
The boys' basketball holiday tournament will be held in Brady on Dec. 29-30. Teams that will participate will be Callaway, Brady, Wallace, and Oconto. Residents are reminded to keep all dogs chained or penned, as Callaway citizens have been complaining of overturned garbage cans and strewn garbage. In the future, all dogs, large and small, will be picked up, held, and a fee charged for their detention. - Marshal Bennett.

Dear Friends, Family, and Community, Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the incredible kindness and support you have shown our family since we lost our home in the house fire on Dec. 8. While this has been one of the most difficult experiences of our lives, the compassion and generosity surrounding us has been a powerful reminder that we are not alone.
The December meeting of the Callaway Board of Education began, as they always do, with acknowledging something or someone deserving of a special shout-out…a district celebration. This month, there was plenty to celebrate, as the AQUeSTT scores were released and Callaway Public Schools did very well.
The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly meeting started at 6:30 p.m. at the Callaway Legion Hall on Dec. 8, 2025. Our President Cora Belew called the meeting to order. Our Chaplin Joyce Brestel started the meeting with a prayer. We then followed our President in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, singing the Star Spangled Banner and saying the Auxiliary Preamble.
50 YEARS AGO: The Callaway Chamber of Commerce met at Jerry’s Steak House and held an election of officers with the following results: President, Dale Farmer; Vice President, Larry Nelson; Secretary, Jim Smith; 3-year Board of Directors, Alex Schneider.
