The need for quality childcare is not just a big city issue. Every community is struggling with finding daycare providers for our youngest residents, and Callaway is no exception.

As of October 31, there are four males, two females, and no others booked in the Custer County Jail. Winston Cha Chi - Booked September 20 for failure to appear.

The following calls were received and processed by Custer County Sheriff’s Department for Callaway and Oconto. October 28 - A call was received from HWY 40 in Callaway.

Thank you to everyone that helped out with and supported this year’s Callaway Kids Fall Carnival – we couldn’t have done it without your time, donations and support. Ballots have been cast in the 2022 midterm election, but it could be up to two weeks before final results are announced. While all of the Custer County races other than District 7 County Commissioner were decided in the primary in May, there were several local races of interest.

The Nebraska School Activities Association honored Callaway’s Ken Pitkin for his 40 years of service to Nebraska high school volleyball. Ken has refereed countless games and assisted at state tournaments throughout the past four decades. Thank you for your service Ken!

On the farm outdoor cats come and go as frequently as the Nebraska wind. On occasion we are blessed to have certain cats stay for extended periods, but more likely than not our feline friends are here for a year or two and then poof! They’re gone.
