Whether through service projects or community gatherings, National FFA Week is a time for FFA members to raise awareness about the National FFA Organization's role in developing future leaders and the importance of agricultural education.

National FFA Week always runs from Saturday to Saturday and encompasses Feb. 22, George Washington’s birthday. This year, the week kicked off on Feb. 18 and culminates on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Today, FFA provides the next generation of leaders who will change the world. As the nation’s top schoolbased youth leadership development organization, FFA helps young people meet new agricultural challenges by encouraging members to develop their unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of career pathways. FFA members are our future leaders, food suppliers, innovators and more!

National FFA Week is a time for FFA members to share agriculture with their fellow students and communities. The Callaway chapter has been celebrating the week with a different theme and activities each day.

The week kicked off with what has become many of the students favorite - “drive your tractor to school day”. Lunch was also provided for all of the school’s FFA members on Monday as well.

On Tuesday, members wore their official blue and gold dress to school and spent the days promoting the FFA program by engaging in a number of activities with the elementary students. Students dressed in western attire on Wednesday, are enjoying “throwback Thursday” today, and will finish out the week Friday dressed in flannel. Chapter members will also serve a staff appreciation breakfast Friday morning.

The FFA Advisor at CPS is Amanda Chytka, who comes from a 7-generation farm family. She has been a teacher for seven years, and has been with Callaway Public Schools since 2016, when she was hired to re-established the FFA chapter and ag ed program. There are currently 39 students, grades 7-12, in the Callaway FFA Chapter.
