The Tail Twisters held their first meeting of 2023 on Sunday Jan. 29. This year the Tail Twisters joined together with the Western Riders. The Meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. at the Senior Center in Callaway. Maggie Birkel read the Tail Twisters’ treasurer's report and Eli Rogers read the Western Riders treasurer’s report.

Since this year is the first year that these two clubs are combined, we had to come to an agreement on the officer positions. It was decided to have two Presidents, Treasurers, and News Reporters, but only one Vice President and Secretary position. We also decided to have one person handle all of the ad sales for the Premium books. This year’s officers are: President Aubrie Birkel (Callaway) and Delaney Rogers (Arnold), Vice President Kaygen Witthuhn (Callaway), Treasurer Maggie Birkel (Callaway) and Riata Remund (Arnold), Secretary Delanie Weinman (Arnold), News reporters are Josie Reiff (Callaway) and Josie Lehmkuler (Arnold), and the Ad Sales representative is Jocelyn Bailey (Callaway).

Market Beef weigh-In is Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Animal Hospital on the south side. There is still plenty of room for anyone that wants to join the 2025 CWF trip. There are approximately 15 kids registered and a total of 45 can travel. Kids are now eligible to compete at in-person events at the State Fair at the age of 9-years-old if they turn nine before January 1. There will be no district horse show this year.

Online enrollment for the 2023 county fair is open. You may register online but it ends June 15. This year the Tail Twisters club decided to pay for each member's $7 enrollment fee. In the past the Western Riders members' families had to pay each kid's fee to enroll. This year they decided on having the club pay for each member's fee.

The premium book cover contest is on. Please submit by March 1 any picture that your child took at the 2022 county fair. The pictures must be vertical and have a high resolution.

Ad Sales for the premium book have been distributed throughout the club. Jocelyn Bailey is in charge of making sure that every single ad gets purchased. Ad sales can be dropped off at Callaway Public Schools or the Winsome Inn in Arnold. In the past each club had a separate ad in the premium book to promote the clubs. Since this year we combined clubs we decided on just doing one ad together. We chose the 5x4 ad which is $35 but each club is going to pay for half. All ads are due at the next meeting.

The next meeting will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, in Arnold at the United Methodist Church. The meetings will rotate between Arnold and Callaway. If anyone is interested in joining either Tail Twisters or Western Riders you can contact Carla Pandorf at (308) 870-1947 or Holly Remund at (308) 848-2462.
