Callaway Speaker Crowned District Champ & State Qualifier

Eight members of the Callaway speech team presented their performances to the public during a ‘Night of Speech’ on March 1 at Callaway High School. The public performance not only provided friends, family and community members an opportunity to see the students present the events they have worked for months to perfect, but also was a great practice for the kids before heading into Districts this week.

Arnold Student’s Project Will Benefit All County Children

From as long as he can remember, Arnold freshman Eli Rogers has loved Dolly Parton. Her music, her rags-toriches story, and especially her philanthropy and giving heart. So when he decided to bring the opportunities of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) to Custer County children, it was an easy project for the community to get behind.

Hanson Utilizes Public Forum To Dispel Rumors

The Callaway Public School media center was filled and more chairs had to be brought in to accommodate the number of guests in attendance at a public forum on March 2. Superintendent Bryon Hanson was joined by only three members of the school board, as to not constitute a quorum and therefore have to operate under school board policies.

It has come to our attention that there has been some confusion about the Courier Facebook page, as the former page is still active. Realizing that we have not been doing a great job of keeping up with the social media site, and that many potential followers may not be able to find us, we have renewed our commitment to better serve the community of Callaway by revitalizing our social media presence.

Speech Team Brings Home Two Medals From MNAC

The Callaway speech team traveled to Mullen on Saturday, Feb. 25, to compete in the MNAC Speech Meet. The team brought home two medals from the conference meet. Chenney Dishman earned the 2nd place silver medal in Humorous; and Nadeema Haidle and Chenney Dishman earned a 4th place medal in duet acting. It was a great day of competition and the coaches and community are so proud of all of our competitors.

American Legion Birthday Party

Members of Callaway American Legion, the Sons of American Legion and Legion Auxiliary and all their family members are invited to attend a Legion Birthday Party on March 19 at 2 p.m. Cake and drinks will be provided.

Public Forum Discussing Preschool Expansion Tonight

The public is invited to an open forum regarding the potential pre-school expansion at Callaway Public School on Thursday, March 2, at 8 p.m. in the CPS library. Attendees will have the opportunity to make comments and ask questions regarding the potential expansion. The forum is being hosted by the CPS administration and members of the school board.

Annual Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser

The Callaway Lutheran Church will hold their annual Spaghetti Supper on Wednesday, March 15, at the Callaway Community Center. The supper will include spaghetti, salad and ice cream.
