It takes more than a little rain to keep folks away from good BBQ! On Saturday, June 3, a large crowd gathered in the small town of Oconto for the annual Blowin’ The Doors Off BBQ.

It has been an emotional ride this spring for us and our church family as we have bid farewell to some longtime members and true family friends. Since January we have lost two gentlemen and held celebrations of life for each.

Do you have a damaged or worn American Flag? Show our American Flag the respect it deserves by dropping it off at Callaway True Value for proper disposal! Our Callaway American Legion Bryson Booker Post 59 will be disposing of the flags properly during the 4th of July ceremonies.

One of the area highlights of the summer is on tap for this weekend, as the smell of smokers and BBQ will once again fill the air in Oconto, beckoning hundreds of people to wet their taste buds. The famous Oconto Blowin' The Doors Off BBQ is Saturday, June 3.

Last week we paid tribute to Wendy Dockweiler for serving as a teacher in the Callaway school district for 30 years. This week we feature Jarod Rush and Bob Keeney, both of whom have also taught here for 30 years and for Bob, this was his last.

Spring is here, and as the trees and grass turn green and flowers begin to bloom, outdoor green thumbs are back in their happy place! Beginning in June nominations will be taken for the “Best Yard of the Month” contest, which will run through September.
