The South Loup men’s and women’s track teams hosted a home invitational on Friday, April 10, and put on a tremendous show in front of the home crowd. The women easily walked away with the team championship, while the men finished as invite runners-up.

The Bobcats traveled to Elwood last Thursday, April 2, and came home with some hardware for their efforts. Both the boys and girls track team competed in a field of 13 teams, each coming home with 4th place overall.

The South Loup men’s golf team opened the 2026 season on Thursday, April 2, at Amherst. Both varsity and JV teams competed in the 11-team invitational, with the Bobcats finishing in 7th place overall in the team standings at the end of the day.

The Custer County 4-H Indoor Archery match was held on Saturday, March 21 at the Shooting Sports Building on the Custer County Fairgrounds in Broken Bow. Thirty- four Custer County 4-H youth participated in the event.

The South Loup boys’ and girls’ track teams opened the 2026 season on Thursday, March 26, as they traveled to Loup City to compete in the Rebel Invitational.

Selections have been announced for Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference All-Conference basketball teams. Several South Loup players have been selected for that honor.

The Nebraska School Activities Association is pleased to announce the student recipients of the winter 2025-2026 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association Academic All State Awards.

In small schools like Callaway and Arnold, many teachers and coaches do dual duty. When it comes to South Loup track, the head coach is primarily the only difference between the boys and girls teams.

After 18 years at the helm as head coach, the name Mike Weverka has become synonymous with South Loup girls track. He is eager to begin a new season, accompanied by assistant coaches Nicole Recoy and Zac Sweet, and volunteer coaches Rick Peterson, Lane Chesley, Katie Berglund, and Diane Spangler.
