Every once in a while we may connect with someone that neither time nor distance seems to affect. Years may go by, lives change, and people move, yet we can pick up right where we left off years earlier. That is the case for Lars Lovslett.
A foreign exchange student from Norway who attended CHS in 1994, returned for the 30-year reunion of his class over Pioneer Picnic weekend. He also reconnected with the couple who hosted him during his year in Callaway, Jill and Ken Pitkin. (Courier photo by Ellen Mortensen)

Legion Auxiliary Elects New Officers at June Monthly Meeting

The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting started at 5:00 at the Callaway Legion Hall on June 17, 2024. Our President Jane Lashley called the meeting to order. Our Chaplin Joyce Brestel read the prayer. We said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the Star Spangled Banner and recited our Auxiliary Preamble.

One of the highlights of any town celebration is the parade, and the Callaway Pioneer Picnic is no excepton. Entries for the parade line up in front of the school on Saturday, June 29, and made their way down Kimball Street to the awaiting audience - particularly the kids clamoring for candy thrown from the passing floats and vehicles!
