Homecoming Royalty Crowned

No matter how many years have passed, most of us remember our Homecoming. Typically, the football jocks recall details of the game that night, while we girls tend to reminisce on the dress we wore or who our date was. No matter what details come to mind, Homecoming makes lasting memories.

Take Advantage of Tax Credit For Giving to Foundation

The Callaway Community Foundation exists solely to promote the Callaway community by supporting projects and individuals that exemplify the unique qualities of this town. A group of volunteers who make up the foundation’s board meet monthly to come up with ideas on how to do that, and ideas for raising the funds needed to accomplish those goals.

Bobcats Perform Well at Tough UNK Meet

On Monday Sept. 30, the South Loup cross country team traveled to compete at the annual Kearney invite where they ran against 50 teams, and 481 total class D runners. The boys' team came home with an impressive 12th place and three runners in the top 75: junior Josiah Coleman (19:18.5) 27th, freshman Jaden Baker (19:59.2) 58th, and senior Dawson Mason (20:17.7) 71st.

ELECTION 2024: All Things Nebraska

Nebraskans will vote on six ballot issues during this fall’s general election, including competing initiatives on the issue of abortion. Here’s a rundown of three of those ballot issues, those concerning abortion and paid sick leave: - Initiative 434, titled the “Protect Women and Children” initiative, would, if approved, place the state’s current policy on abortion, which allows the procedure only during the first 12 weeks of gestation, into the State Constitution.

I was asked where I come up with the thoughts about plants and animals that I write for this column and the answer is easy…other people! Take for example last month Luanne came up to me and told me about Todd flooding a “huge” wasp out of the ground. She forgot to bring it with her, but I already knew; it was a cicada killer, our largest wasp.
