Awards Presented at Custer County 4-H Recognition

The Custer County 4-H Recognition Night was held on Sunday, Nov. 17 at the 4-H Building in Broken Bow. The event is sponsored annually by the Nebraska State Bank and Trust Co. and Arrow Seed Co., Inc., in conjunction with the Nebraska Extension in Custer County and the Custer County 4-H Council.

Kicking Off The Holiday Season

The day of enjoying a turkey feast and giving thanks for the many blessings we enjoy also traditionally marks the beginning of the Christmas season. It also means Callaway’s community Christmas event is just around the corner.

Auxiliary Invites Public to Wreath Laying

On Saturday, Dec 7, the Callaway American Legion Auxiliary Unit #59 will lay wreaths in Rose Hill Cemetery for their annual 'Christmas Wreaths For Veterans' ceremony. The wreath laying will begin at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend and to help if they desire. Coffee and cookies will be served at the Legion Hall following the wreath laying.

Everyone is invited to the McFate’s 12th Annual Callaway Community Thanksgiving Day Lunch at the United Methodist Fellowship Hall on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Furrow Explains Financial Decision

During the Nov. 12 meeting of the Callaway school board, a resolution was unanimously approved to allow the school to open a line of credit at Nebraska State Bank. The move had some district patrons, including Duane Kimball, questioning why a line of credit was necessary. Superintendent JD Furrow explained.
