Legion Auxiliary March Minutes

The Legion Auxiliary Unit 59 met at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Callaway. We proceeded to start our meeting with Joyce Brestel reading a prayer. Deondra Lashley called our meeting to order. We proceeded with the reading of the minutes from our last meeting. There was one correction: our dues will be $32 a year starting in July.

Community Easter Egg Hunt Planned

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 8 for the annual Callaway Easter Candy Hunt. The Callaway EMT’s will conduct an Easter Candy Hunt at Morgan Park beginning at 11 a.m.

Pioneer Legacy Lives On At Chesley Lodge

As community journalists, we are tasked with documenting the history of today's events for tomorrow’s generations. Occasionally, however, we get the chance to share yesterday’s history with today’s generation. A visit to the Chesley farm northwest of Callaway, provided such an opportunity.

Get Your Dogs Licensed

Reminder to Callaway pet owners: 2023 Dog Licenses are due by May 1st! You must provide current proof of rabies vaccination. Stop by the Village Clerk's Office to fill out the form, or you may download a form from the Village website at https://villageofcallawayne.gov/ forms New dogs must be registered within 30 days of ownership. Puppies must be registered by 6 months of age. There is a limit of three dogs per household within city limits without a kennel license.

Palm Sunday It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, 5-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for.

“You have something in your teeth,” she says. A little embarrassed and annoyed, I attempt to remove the foreign object. How long have I been talking to people and smiling without anyone telling me? I am so grateful that she told me, that someone has my back, and that I can trust her to tell me the truth about myself.
