Callaway FCCLA Chapter Earns Gold Award

The Nebraska Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) met for their annual State Leadership Conference April 2-4 in the Lincoln Haymarket area. Nearly 1,100 students and advisers from 90 Nebraska schools attended the conference to grow their leadership skills, celebrate their accomplishments from the past year, and prepare for their future careers. Melvin Adams was the keynote speaker for the event. His message focused on resilience and never letting one’s circumstances prevent them achieving their dreams.

These funds are available to households in our 14-county region, which includes: Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, Sherman, Valley, and Wheeler Counties.

A delegation of Callaway High School FFA students traveled to the State FFA Conference in Lincoln March 29 - 31, under the leadership of Chapter Advisor Amanda Chytka. In addition to competing in the various individual and team events, the students listened to motivational keynote speakers, participated in leadership academies and workshops, took facility tours, enjoyed scavenger hunts, banquets and a plethora of other events planned for the 6,000 members, advisors and guests in attendance during the three day convention.

Easter Egg Hunt At Morgan Park

Everyone is invited to come out with the whole family and celebrate Easter with an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8, in Callaway. The hunt will begin at 11 a.m. in NM Morgan Park, and will start at the Courthouse.

Assistance Available For 2022 Storm Damage

The Hail storms that hit Custer County during the summer of 2022 have officially been determined a disaster by President Biden. This opens up additional funding for those affected. There is a limit of $40,675 in assistance, and income limits do apply.

Spring Fling Friday At Senior Center

On Friday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Michelle Brestel, Micki Newton, and Mary Smith will be hosting a “Spring Fling” at the Callaway Senior Center. You can find homemade baked goodies, handmade items and Easter decorations, just to name a few items. Everyone is invited to come see what they have to offer!

Richard and Paige Schweitzer of Arnold happily announce the birth of a daughter on March 20, 2023, at Gothenburg Health. Jayelle Marie Schweitzer was born at 1:28 p.m. weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce and measuring 19 inches in length. Jayelle is being welcomed home by three brothers: Uriah, Zakeeus and Elias. Grandparents are Marvin and Kathleen Schweitzer of Arnold, and Gordon and Kathleen Connell of Stapleton. Great-grandparents are Ed and Betty Persen of Arnold, and Sam Connell of Arnold.
