On Tuesday, July 4, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a motorcycle crash nine miles south of Callaway on Cozad Road.

According to a press release issued by the Custer County Sheriff's Office, 45-year-old Kane W. Nordmeyer of Cozad was northbound around 11:30 a.m. on his 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle when the motorcycle left the road and entered the ditch, ejecting Nordmeyer.

Nordmeyer was transported to a medical helicopter where life-saving measures were unsuccessful. Nordmeyer passed away as a result of his injuries sustained from the crash.

Callaway Fire and Rescue, Great Plains LifeNet, and Trumbull Towing assisted with the accident, and the Custer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
