BBQ Crowd One Of The Biggest, Despite Rain

It takes more than a little rain to keep folks away from good BBQ! On Saturday, June 3, a large crowd gathered in the small town of Oconto for the annual Blowin’ The Doors Off BBQ. “Despite two rain showers we had a very good attendance of 1,180 people, which is an increase from 1,115 in attendance in 2022,” said Brett Eggleston, one of the organizers of the event.

Last week we paid tribute to Wendy Dockweiler for serving as a teacher in the Callaway school district for 30 years. This week we feature Jarod Rush and Bob Keeney, both of whom have also taught here for 30 years and for Bob, this was his last. Next week we will feature fellow retiree Suzanne Wendorff.

Yard Of The Month Contest Begins In June

Spring is here, and as the trees and grass turn green and flowers begin to bloom, outdoor green thumbs are back in their happy place! Beginning in June nominations will be taken for the “Best Yard of the Month” contest, which will run through September. You can email, send messages through Facebook or stop by First Interstate Bank to let the Chamber know your yard nomination each month. The winner of each “Best Yard of the Month” will receive $25 in Chamber bucks.
