Custer County Fair July 17-31

Body
When it comes to 4-H activities and the county fair, most people’s thoughts likely turn first to livestock. However, today’s 4-H encompasses a wide array of events and activities appealing to many different interests and skill sets.
The 4-H shooting team representing Nebraska at the national competition in Grand Island included three members of the South Loup 4-H Club. From left are Kaygan Witthuhn, Josie Lehmkuhler, Coach Mike Lehmkuhler, and Kelynn Witthuhn. (Photo courtesy Nicole Witthuhn)

Callaway Booster Club: Supporting Students From Start to Finish — And They Need You

Body
For over 30 years, the Callaway Public School Booster Club has been quietly but powerfully shaping the experiences of students from pre-K through 12th grade. As a nonprofit organization made up of parents, grandparents, alumni, community members, school staff, and local businesses, the Booster Club is more than just a support system—it's a cornerstone of school spirit and student success. Now, more than ever, they are seeking new members to continue that mission.
The Callaway Booster Club hosts a Burger Bash each year to help raise funds for the many school and community projects they do. You can help make those efforts possible. (Courier file photo)

New Owners, Same Service

Henry’s Bar in downtown Callaway has new owners and a new name; but other than a different face or two behind the bar and the name on the window, you wouldn’t even notice. That’s because the former owners, Henry and Brooke Moore, and new owners, Jenny and Clint Robinson, worked to make the transition seamless.

From The Capitol: From Pasture to Policy

Body
This week, I want to highlight the Interim Study on the Niobrara National Scenic River, which I introduced as LR158. This study will examine the feasibility of Nebraska taking over administrative responsibility for the 76-mile stretch of the Niobrara Scenic River. Since its designation in 1991, this segment has been managed by the National Park Service, which, unlike most national park sites, owns very little land along the river. Instead, its stewardship has largely relied on partnerships with local landowners and community stakeholders.
