Excess water in farm fields can damage crops, reduce yield, and can contribute to the leaching of nitrates and other nutrients into water sources. Proper management of irrigation activities is required to provide optimal moisture levels in the root zone, which is a major factor in achieving optimal yield.

Car Show Raffle Benefits New Pool Project

Once again this year a raffle was held during the Pioneer Picnic car show in Callaway. The car show is chaired by Lee Bruns. This year’s raffle was a benefit for the Callaway Pool Fund and raised a total of $530. Lutheran Church Hosts Corn Boil

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO CALLAWAY LUTHERAN CHURCH’S ANNUAL CORN BOIL, TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY, JULY 26TH AT THE CALLAWAY COMMUNITY CENTER.  THE CORN BOIL WILL INCLUDE SWEET CORN, SAUSAGE, POTATOES, AND ICE CREAM.  DOORS OPEN AT 5:00 P.M. AND SERVING WILL END AT 7:00 P.M.  A FREE WILL DONATION IS REQUESTED.

Callaway’s Pioneer Picnic weekend was filled with fun activities all around town, one of which was a cornhole tournament on main street. Henry’s Bar hosted the tournament which benefits the 2023 4-H CWF (Citizen Washington Focus) trip.

CPS Students To See Slight Meal Increase For 2023-24

With only one more meeting before the beginning of the 2023-24 school year, the agenda for the July Callaway Board of Education primarily consisted of the annual housekeeping business in preparation for another year. That included approval of the student handbook and the classified staff handbook.

The Callaway Chamber of Commerce July Yard of the Month Winner is… Heath and Amy Birkel! The Chamber received many nominations for their yard. They do a very nice job taking care of the yard and flowers. Be sure to drive by and look at their yard, and get your nominations in for August Yard of the Month! Nominations for Yard Of The Month are due by the 10th. Call, message or stop into First Interstate Bank and place your nominations with Stacey or Kelsey.
