Public Invited To Participate In Superintendent Search Process
The Callaway Board of Education is preparing to make a big decision that will impact the school district for years to come, the hiring of a new superintendent. In a statement released to the district patrons last week, the board stated, “We will approach the search process with attention to each detail necessary to ensure a successful hire. It is our goal to hire a quality and capable administrator to lead the district forward in the years to come.”
The hiring of a new school superintendent is a very detailed process and sometimes takes quite a while. Current Superintendent Bryon Hanson said that is why he submitted his resignation as early as he did - to provide the board with the ample time needed to select the right person for the job.
In an effort to meet the needs of the students and staff at Callaway Public School, as well as make a selection of who will be a good fit for the community, the board is inviting patrons, parents, staff, and administrators to take part in the process. The Nebraska Association of School Boards is assisting the board in the search process and has scheduled a visit to the school and community on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The board invites all stakeholders to participate in this visit and share thoughts regarding the district, community, and superintendent position.
The NASB team will meet with administrators from 2:45 - 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and with all classified/certified staff who would like to attend from 3:45 - 4:30 p.m. Then at 7 p.m. they will meet with all interested community members, parents, and patrons.
Specific questions and topics to be addressed include strengths and accomplishments of the district and community, and challenges the district is currently facing. The committee also plans to address any challenges the district may be facing in the next few years, as well as the experience, personal, and professional qualities that stakeholders deem important for the new superintendent to possess.
If you are interested in sharing comments on any of these issues but are unable to attend the meeting, there are options for submitting your responses. You may access the online form at www.surveymonkey.com/r/callaway, or email sbecker@nasbonline.org. A copy of the form is also available at the superintendent’s office at Callaway Public School.
