The Callaway American Legion Auxiliary monthly meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. at the Callaway Legion Hall on Aug. 21. Our meeting was called to order by our President Shirley Trout. Joyce Brestel read the prayer and we then said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the Star Spangled Banner, and said the Auxiliary Preamble.

Callaway area residents will have an opportunity to visit with U.S. Senator Deb Fischer's staff on Thursday, Sept. 7. Josh Jelden, Central Nebraska Consituent Services & Outreach Director for Sen. Fischer, will be at the Callaway Community Center from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Consituents are invited to meet personally with staff regarding federal casework assistance or other issues at the federal level.

Everyone is invited to take a break from all of the fun in Callaway this Labor Day weekend to relax with friends and enjoy a great meal for a good cause. Henry's Bar and Grill will host a Fish Fry in honor of Gary Kumm 'Kumbo' on Saturday, Sept.

The kids are back in school, and summer is winding down. That means Callaway’s premiere event is just around the corner! Always held on Labor Day weekend, the 32nd Annual Callaway Kite Flight is set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept.

September is Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month. Callaway District Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions is raising awareness about suicide by hosting a Suicide Awareness Walk.

For the second time in as many weeks, the Callaway Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for a new daycare facility. An open house and ribbon cutting was held on Sunday, Aug. 27, for 7 Valley Kids Daycare.

The Callaway Chamber of Commerce Yard of the Month Winner for August is Allen and Judy Meredith! They want to say thank you to their son, Travis and his friend Kim, and also thank you to Janet Rosentrater for all their help in making the yard look so pretty. Be sure to drive by and take a look for yourself. Remember, nominations for the Yard of the Month are due on the 10th of the month, and September will be your final opportunity to nominate a yard. Everyone is invited to share in the celebration of yet another milestone in Callaway, as the Chamber of Commerce hosts a ribbon cutting on Sunday, Aug. 27 for the 7 Valley Kids Childcare. The new childcare will welcome the community to an Open House at 301 Morse St. from 1-3 p.m., with the ribbon cutting at 1 p.m.
