Bonnie J. Bonczynski, 84 of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. 

She was born Sept. 9, 1939, the only child to Leslie L. and Mattie (Dudden) Jay in Denver, Colorado. Bonnie attended schools in western Nebraska and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1957.

Roberta Ann Nansel, age 89, passed away on Aug. 7, 2024, in Grand Island. Roberta’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Kearney with Pastor Matt Fowler officiating. Visitation will be at Horner Lieske Mc-Bride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney, on Friday, Aug. 23 from 5-7 p.m. Private family burial will precede the service at Kearney Cemetery.

Frederick ‘Fred’ Dean Morrison, age 84 of O’Neill, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Fred was born on April 27, 1940, in Arnold to George E. and Dorothy M. (Booker) Morrison.

Frederick ‘Fred’ Dean Morrison,

Body
age 84, of O’Neill, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Fred was born on April 27, 1940 in Arnold, to George E. and Dorothy M. (Booker) Morrison. Fred grew up and attended schools in Callaway, Arnold, Lawton, and Kimball. He graduated from Callaway High School. On July 12, 1958, he married Marilyn Spangler in Callaway. Fred enjoyed all sports and played football, basketball and ran track. Fred started his working career with the Jorgeson Well Company in Callaway, he also worked on an oil rig. In 1963, he started working for the Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas company in Sargent. His time with the gas company took him and his family to Broken Bow, Ainsworth, Randolph and O’Neill. He retired from the gas company in 1998 as regional manager. Fred was a member of the Bassett Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, serving several years as the Fire Chief. Fred enjoyed playing golf in the summer and bowling in the winter. After retirement, he enjoyed model railroading, and his grandkids fondly remember him as Grandpa Choo-Choo.

Mitchel Dean Geiser, age 70 of Arnold, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on July 11, 2024, surrounded by family at the UNMC in Omaha after a long-fought battle with cancer. Mitch was born on Sept. 15, 1953, in Arnold, to Lyle and Viola (Scott) Geiser. He learned his hard work ethic at a very young age, growing up on the Geiser ranch as the youngest of three brothers. He attended Arnold Public School where he developed his love for singing by participating in school musicals and choir before he graduated in 1971.
