Nadia M. Meyer, 88 of Callaway, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Callaway Good Life Center surrounded by her loving family. 

Nadia was born in Kearney on Sept. 13, 1936, to James and Frances (Kring) Williams.  

She received her education from Kearney public schools, graduating from Kearney High School with the class of 1954. She then went on to further her education at Kearney State College for two years.

97, passed away on Feb. 1, 2025. Gene was born on Oct. 8, 1927, in Oconto, to Daisy Klein and Edd Klein. He grew up on a farm during the Great Depression, a time that shaped his resilience and hardworking spirit. Towards the end of World War II, Gene served with pride in the United States Navy. After his service, he returned to Nebraska, where he met and fell in love with LeEtta Johnson. The two married, building a life together filled with love and companionship.

Dr. Perry Ray Griffith, 81 of Huntington Beach, California, formerly of Callaway, passed away on Feb. 25, 2025. Perry was born on Jan. 17, 1944, to Clark “Ted” Theodore and Sadie Joyce (Moore) Griffith in Callaway. Perry intended to stay and help his dad on the farm after graduating from Callaway High school in 1962, but his parents strongly encouraged him to study for a year at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and he was welcome to return home after that. Perry studied at UNL for two years and married his high school love and FFA Sweetheart, Mary Lynn Bridges, on June 11, 1964, in Lincoln. They both continued their studies at Kansas State University in Manhattan and graduated from KSU in 1970 while parenting two young kids, Clark Theodore II and Mary Joyce. Perry received a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Mary Lynn earned a bachelor’s in education and American Literature.

Kathren (Kate) Irene (Crow) Henry, 92 of Callaway, passed away Feb. 24, 2025, at Burwell. She was born Oct. 9, 1932, to Leslie A. and Sophia N.J. (Beyer) Crow, at their farmhouse five miles south of Arnold. Kathren was the fifth child of seven. The Crow family moved to Mills Valley where Kathren attended grade school until her parents purchased a farm 2 1/2 miles east of Arnold. She then attended Arnold grade school and graduated from Arnold High School with the class of 1950. The first summer after high school graduation she worked at the Arnold Café. However; when she graduated she also had credentials to teach school for one year, so she taught that fall at Custer School #246 near Callaway. Kate took classes in the summer of 1951 at Nebraska State Teachers College in Kearney to teach one more year at Custer.

George “Andy” Shelton, 86 of Bridgeton, New Jersey, passed away Oct. 22, 2024, in Silverdale, Washington, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, to George “Sooner' and Wilma Shelton, nee Anderson.
