Five CHS Students Selected For Academic All-State

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the student recipients of the Spring 2023 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) Academic All-State Awards. Since 2006 this NSAA Awards Program has recognized students who meet the criteria for nomination by their school in the season of their activity.

County Fair Hosts First Event Next Thursday

The Custer County Fair kicks off next Thursday, July 20, with the annual 4-H style juding and clothing construction judging event held each year at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow. The 4-H members will model their projects in a public fashion show that evening beginning at 7 p.m. at the church.

Heck, I was friends with several LLNRD staff members and still had no idea.

Back in 1991 country music superstar Garth Brooks recorded a huge hit song titled “Rodeo”. The song chronicles the life of a cowboy who gets the rodeo bug so deep in his blood that he is willing to sacrifice just about anything for the thrill of the sport. Young Callaway cowboy Kaleb Hunt will tell you that feeling is very real. And the bug? Well, he has caught it.

Paying Respect To Old Glory

The community of Callaway hosts a special Independence Day celebration each year that not only includes lots of fun and fireworks, but also pays tribute to those who maintain our nations freedom. The celebratory evening begins with a somber ceremony where members of the Callaway American Legion dispose of American flags which have become worn or tattered.
Oconto author Yvette Mannon read her latest children’s book to residents of Callaway Good Life Center last week. She was joined by Cookie the blue heeler, the main character in all of Mannon’s books.
