To The Community of Callaway: When I was approached last spring to cover the South Loup Bobcats sports teams for the local newspapers, I was excited and nervous. Covering sports is a big responsibility - especially in our small schools where we know the student athletes and their families.

Harriett Maxine (Cornish) Taylor

was born in Laramie, Wyoming on Dec. 22, 1922, to James and Dorothy Cornish. James had served as an officer in World War I. He settled in Wyoming on a homestead which was given to soldiers after completing their tour of duty. Dorothy joined James after completing a term as a teacher in Nebraska. They lived in Laramie, having two children there, Harriett and Maynard.

To All Concerned: America’s founders gave us a Constitutional Republic. Because of them, we were born free. But we could die as slaves because we have, as a people, lost sight of these basic truths: 1) Freedom cannot exist without morality. Without sufficient character and moral fortitude, we cannot govern ourselves.
