CHS Class of ‘62 Meets for 60th Reunion

Body The Class of 1962 got together during Pioneer Picnic and alumni weekend, and visited as they watched the parade, and enjoyed a good meal at Mrs Robinson's. The classmates enjoyed visiting and sharing memories at the Senior Center for the afternoon.

Body In the old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat.

Hendricks Finds New Career Working From Home

Body Nebraska’s employment set another record high of 1,042,762 during the month of May. This is the 11th straight month of record employment in the state. Additionally, Nebraska’s unemployment rate remains the lowest in the nation, and in state history, at 1.9 percent.
Vicky Hendricks is just one of many Americans who have established a home-based career since the pandemic.

Callaway Celebrates Community’s Pioneer Spirit

Body For the past 89 years folks have been gathering in Callaway for the annual Pioneer Picnic celebration. It has nearly always been a two-day event, initially planned to honor those brave pioneers who forged their way through the valley and settled the village.

Pioneer or Not, it will be a Fun Weekend for All

Body The 89th Annual Pioneer Picnic will kick off on Friday, June 24, with the rodeo at 7:30 p.m. and a street dance at Shotgun Annie’s from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Then the fun really gets cranked up on Saturday, June 25, with a fun run at 8 a.m. and the parade at 10:45.
