Donna McFate of Callaway doesn’t like the idea of anyone being alone on a day like Thanksgiving, which prompted her to do something about that. Ten years ago, McFate - with the help of her husband Merlin and daughter Jessica Larson - launched a community Thanksgiving dinner in Callaway.

On Friday we embarked on our first trip to Colorado in three years and encountered a substance we haven’t seen much of for over a year – snow. We were headed to Denver to celebrate the 100th birthday of Don’s Aunt Vaunia Miyoshi. While Friday was her actual birthday, the whole weekend was going to be devoted to celebrating with family and friends and we didn’t want to miss a minute of the festivities.

Homeschool Co-op Opens Callaway Christian Academy

Giving parents an option when it comes to educating their children, is what Steve Sommer said motivated him to finally pull the trigger on something he has wanted to do for a long time - start a faith based school. n September, the families of 10 youngsters took advantage of the opportunity for an alternative school, and enrolled their kids in the Callaway Christian Academy. It is not technically a private school, but rather a cooperative of home schoolers.

It’s Official - Economic Development Plan Retained

All ballots in Custer County have been counted, and Election Commissioner Constance Gracey has released the official results of the 2022 midterm general election. Like several counties across the state, Custer had a respectable voter turnout for a midterm election. Of the 7,781 registered voters in the county, 4,524 cast a ballot resulting in a 58.14% voter turnout.
